FIRST Robotics is a worldwide organization aimed at promoting involvement in science and technology in today's youth. Team 753 is a member of the most advanced and demanding program FIRST has to offer: the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC®). FRC creates real-world challenges for highschool students to overcome through building a robot. FRC is a unique Sport for the Mind™, designed to help highschool students discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineering and research in science and technology can be. Every year, FRC challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem within a six-week time frame using a standard "kit of parts" and a common set of rules. Teams build robots from these parts and enter them in the competitions designed by Dean Kamen, Dr. Woodie Flowers, and a committee of other engineers and professionals. FIRST has redefined winning for these students because it rewards them for excellence in design, enthusiastic team spirit, Gracious Professionalism™, and maturity, as well as for the ability to overcome obstacles. Scoring the most points is a secondary goal; winning means building partnerships that last. For more information, visit the FIRST website.
