Off-season 2010

Postby Jason » Mon May 31, 2010 8:52 pm

This thread is for discussing the off-season projects for 2010

So far I have come up with the following ideas for off-season projects, feel free to submit your own.
*Get PV=nRT up and running as a t-shirt cannon. This seems like a good design and a more detailed look at the design can be found here.
*Build a battery charging cart. I had something like this in mind that has wheels and is handled like a hand truck.
*Create scale models of previous robots, both in CAD and real life.
*Design a small and simple gearbox for the Fisher-Price motor--the one with the huge black gearbox.
    *Design/prototype mecanum wheels.
*Give E^πi + 1 (Zero) four wheel drive.
*Train someone in programming. More than one person would be even better.
*Build a robot cart. It must be able to hold all the robots and fit through a doorway no matter which robot it is carrying. The ability to hold parts and tools as well as handle rough terrain is a must.
    *Finish Lexan holder

I have already started working with programming, and it is going well. I was wondering if I might be able to borrow the little laptop from last year to take a look at the code, so I know better what it looks like when applied to robots. That and/or a copy of previous years' programs would be greatly appreciated.

sure, come to the next meeting and you can get it. We also need to fix the current robot code. it's still doing the non-stop kicking that it started doing at the end of salt lake, and re-downloading the code didn't help.

we also need to finish the Lexan holder. And I wouldn't mind working on the CAD models of the robots sounds like a fun learning experience and i have the perfect computer for it.

we now have a working t-shirt cannon, those who helped out at the cub scouts presentation have already seen it, and it's pretty awesome. It could use a paint job to make it look more awesome and we still need to get it mounted to PV=nRT.
